The Dream Act is the only hope for illegal immigrants to attend college with federal aid and most importantly, they would have a chance to apply for permanent residence in the United States. It truly is the greatest wish that undocumented students can possibly ask for. It provides these students with every possibility and every chance to go to school, work, and live in this country. The Dream Act can set laws that are flexible and guarantee students an equal chance to achieve the American Dream. It would allow students who have lived in the country since age the age of 15 to apply for conditional legal residence after graduating from high school. They would then be able to work and pay in-state college tuition rates. This proposed legislation bill will potentially help 360,000 undocumented high school graduates and higher education would become available for an estimated 715,000 undocumented students from the ages of 5 and 17. It is important for these students to receive a higher education as they are the future of America.
I hope that my words and ideas throughout this blog has influenced at least one reader. That is my goal. To provide new ideas and teach people about the importance of the Dream Act and the affect that it has to these students who continue to live in fear of deportation everyday. I think it's about time to assure them the safety that they deserve as they are not criminals. I hope America can be what it once was. I hope that we can all come together and unite as one instead of having two types of students in school. Education will forever bring prosperity and success so it does not make sense to take that away from anyone, no matter where they are from. I hope the American Dream will be relevant once again and I hope you will join me to support the Dream Act. Thank You.
